Depending on where you’re starting from on the island, here are just SOME of the amazing sights to see on the world-famous Road to Hana:

• Walk on a Black Sand Beach. Cruise down Waiʻanapanapa Road off Hana Highway, and once you get to the end, you’ll find the legendary Pailoa black sand beach at Wai'anapanapa State Park. One of East Maui’s most breathtaking sites, this beach is a prime spot for taking photos that truly capture the majestic beauty of Maui.
• Explore Wai’anapanapa State Park. The black sand beach is just one of the attractions at Waiʻanapanapa State Park, a treasured spot steeped in local legend and mystery. Additional park activities include fishing, hiking, sightseeing, and swimming. Guided by your Royal Taxi driver, you can explore blowholes, freshwater caves, lava tubes, sea cliffs, and seabird colonies in one place, and learn about the folklore surrounding the tide pools, which turn red several times a year! Science says it’s due to the arrival of shrimp, but local folklore says the red color is the blood of Princess Popoaleae who was murdered by her husband, Chief Ka’akea, in a nearby cave. • Swim in Freshwater Caves. Along the trails in Wai’anapanapa State Park, one can find 2 freshwater caves, one of which is said to be the site of Princess Popoaleae’s murder by Chief Ka’akea. The water that fills the caves is fresh and floats above the salt water of the sea.
• Explore a Lava Tube*. The Hana Lava Tube at Ka'eleku Cave invites travelers to walk through an underground tunnel and explore unique underground rock and lava formations that are nearly 1,000 years old! Experience the mystery of walking through the 18^th largest lava tube in the world – but be sure to wear shoes with a grip! It gets slippery down there. 
• Swim at Red Sand Beach. Red Sand Beach at Kaihalulu Beach is like something out of a movie. Hard-to-find, but worth the journey, once you arrive you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and wading, or, if you dare, diving off the tallest rocks into deep blue water. The striking contrast in colors alone is worth the trip to Kaihalulu!
• Hop rocks to a 100-Foot Waterfall at Punalau Falls. While there are many waterfalls on the Road to Hana, Punalau Falls stands out for its massive height of 100 feet. Although flash floods and falling rocks are common here, your Royal Taxi driver can guide you around the falls safely.
• Hike the Pipiwai trail to a 400-Foot Waterfall. If 100 feet isn’t daring enough, the 1.8 mile Pipiwai Trail leads travelers to a 400-foot waterfall. Safer than many but just as beautiful, the Pipiwai Trail takes you through a maze full of cliffs, lush greenery, and bamboo rainforest – there’s even an infinity pool, Banyan Tree, and wild mountain apple trees along the way!
• Discover Hana Bay. An ideal choice for families with small children or elder relatives and those looking for a more relaxed experience, Hana Bay is slightly removed from the raging waters of the ocean, offering calmer conditions for swimming and other water sports like canoeing and kayaking, fishing, and windsurfing. • Take a walk through the trees at the Keanae Arboretum. With approximately 150 specimens and tons of exotic fruits, plants, and trees, Keanae Arboretum is a stunning stop on the Road to Hana. Walk along the Pi’ina’au stream and take in the breadfruit, blue marble, papaya, and rainbow eucalyptus trees, then take a dip in one of the many small pools along the path.
• Take photos at the Keanae Peninsula Overlook. Just past the Keanea Arboretum near mile Marker 17 is the Keanae Overlook. Take a stop and pull out your camera for an amazing photo-op featuring picturesque views of the ocean and taro patches.
• Listen to the Rocks at Plenty Kiwae Beach. Great for rock-climbing due to its sticky rocks, or for simply taking in the beauty of the land, Plenty Kiwae Beach is known for its abundance of thorny trees and wall of lava rock, as well as the unmistakable sound of rocks falling onto the beach.
• Visit Charles Lindbergh’s Gravesite. Famous aviator Charles Lindbergh is buried alongside his wife at Palapala Ho’omau Church in Kipahulu, a site treasured for its beauty and landscaping. Sit in the nearby park for incredible views of Maui’s Eastern coastline or arrive early to catch the sunrise – the church is known as one of the best spots to see it.
• See Maui’s hidden Wind Farm. Located in Kaupo on the dry side of the island is Maui’s latest wind farm. Home to ancient sites, rough mountain roads, strong winds, and a wide, magnificent landscape, this landmark is best toured with a guide who can educate you on the land’s history and in a vehicle built to handle the bumpy terrain.
• Shop at Hasegawa General Store. If you need a little retail therapy and are craving a rare experience, the Hasegawa General Store is a local landmark for a reason. Over 100 years old, the store offers an unusual range of items from organic produce and groceries to artwork, accessories, custom t-shirts, postcards, souvenirs, and more. There’s also a good selection of special items only found in Hana; simply look for the “Uniquely Hana” tags and take home something to remember your adventure.
• Stop for world famous Banana Bread at Halfway to Hana*. Banana bread is a local delicacy on Maui, thanks to the abundance of delicious bananas that grow on the island, and specifically in Hana. Indulge in this local treat at the Halfway to Hana stand, who’s special recipe makes their bread a favorite of locals and tourists. A tasty addition to your Royal Taxi Hana Tour!
• Visit an Organic Fruit Farm**. Delight your senses at one of the many organic fruit farms on the Road to Hana. Ask your Royal Taxi driver which farm he or she recommends, as there are plenty to choose from, including the ONO Organic Farms, Laulima Farm, and O’heo Gulch. Some of the farms offer fruit tastings of everything from familiar fruits like avocado, banana, and mango to more exotic fruits like durian, star fruit, lychee, and lilikoi. Fruit heaven!
• Stop at Fruit Stands*. Get a taste of the island on your tour of Hana when you stop at one of the many cherished fruit stands along the way, like Huelo Lookout, ONO Ranch Food Stand, and Twin Falls Fruit Stand, to name a few. From locally grown produce to coffee, smoothies, and snacks, your Royal Taxi driver can take you to experience some of the most delectable fruit the island has to offer. 
• Get Ice Cream at Coconut Glen’s*. Everyone knows Coconut Glen’s! This organic Hana farm also boasts an ice cream shop in Nahiku, Maui, located at mile marker 27 ½ on the Road to Hana. Offering 100% vegan ice cream made from coconut milk, Coconut Glen’s is perfect for a quick, enjoyable treat on your trip to Hana.
• Go Wine Tasting at Tedeschi Winery. Housed in the lush countryside of Upcountry Maui, Ulupalakua Ranch’s Tedeschi Winery is known for its pineapple wine and picturesque views, though a varietal for almost any wine lover can be found here. If you’re staying in the Upcountry area, the winery is a fun place to stop on the way home from your Road to Hana Tour.  Ask your Royal Taxi guide if this is a good addition to your route!
• Stop for Snacks at Ulupalakua General Store*. If you’re headed back from Hana to Upcountry, you can also check out the Ulupalakua General Store. Featuring Maui Cattle Co. beef and lamb and Maui-grown produce among other homemade foods and snacks, Ulupalakua General Store’s has an open-air grill offering visitors a memorable dining experience in beautiful Upcountry. Enjoy the views as you drive along winding roads leading up to the ranch, get a taste of homegrown cooking, and pick up a few ranch-themed souvenirs.
